Private Screening: Being Heumann

Meet Judy Heumann. Her life changed disability rights forever.

Being Heumann is a biographical film based on Judy’s memoir, chronicling her personal journey and the historic 1977 occupation of San Francisco’s Federal Building. See how one woman’s activism sparked the disability rights movement and made discrimination against people with disabilities illegal.

Join us for a free community screening (must be 17yrs+). Presented by BRIDGED and the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council.

EVENT DETAILS

BRIDGED is bringing together our community for a private screening of this disability history milestone. The film is free—our generous sponsors, including presenting sponsor the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council, are making this possible for everyone.

We’ve ensured the venue is fully accessible, including wheelchair accessible seating. Before the film, we’ll share a few remarks to set the context. After, we’ll have time to reflect and discuss what Judy’s story means for our movement today.

Note: This film is rated R and intended for adults.

This is for our community. Come as you are. Bring your questions, your energy, your story.
