ANNOUNCING OUR FAITH-BASED Program
When we founded BRIDGED, we focused on impacting communities through schools. We then expanded to educating parents directly through our IEP trainings. We developed the Disability Resource Expo to bring together the broader community of resources and people with needs.
But something kept coming up in conversations: What about faith communities?
Families told us about churches where they felt unwelcome. Individuals with disabilities shared experiences of being excluded from full participation in worship and community. And we realized something important: if we want to create truly inclusive communities, we can't leave churches out of the conversation.
THE DISABILITY & THE CHURCH CONFERENCE
In May, we had the incredible opportunity to present at Key Ministry's Disability & the Church Conference. We connected with church leaders, disability ministry leaders, educators, parents, and advocates from across the country, all passionate about making sure everyone has access to the Gospel.
During our breakout session, "Preparing the Next Generation: Teaching Children & Youth About Disability," we shared stories, research, and practical strategies. But more than that, we listened.
And what we heard was clear: churches want to welcome people with disabilities. They're just not always sure how.
They need practical resources. They need theological grounding. They need curriculum that teaches children and youth that people with disabilities are valuable, invited, and have a God-given purpose.
INTRODUCING: Our PILOT PROGRAM FOR CHURCHES
One of the most exciting parts of the conference was officially launching our new Pilot Program for Churches — a 4-week, turn-key Disability Awareness Month curriculum designed to teach children and students what the Bible says about disability and that people with disabilities are valuable, invited and have a God-given purpose.
We have already had conversations with 15 churches and organizations around the country, and we are so encouraged by the response and excitement surrounding this new project.
